SmithFest Foundation
The SmithFest Foundation started out in 2007 as an intricate scavenger hunt organized as a means to bring family and friends together. The SmithFest Scavenger Hunt has continued to grow every year, so in 2010 we decided the event could be used as an opportunity to raise money for deserving local charities. At this point we discovered that “SmithFesters” were just as generous as they were crazy.
In June of 2010, SmithFest formed a Board of Directors and became a fully determined 501(c)3 non-profit organization, the SmithFest Foundation. In our first year as a non-profit the Foundation raised $5,000 for Kids in Disability Sports (K.I.D.S.), then in 2011 the event saw major growth yet again. The 2011 SmithFest managed to raise approximately $50,000 for two GREAT organizations, Make-A-Wish Foundation of Mass & RI and Families of SMA (Spinal Muscular Atrophy).
Beneficiaries are chosen each year, and any non-profit organization may apply. SmithFest Foundation is always looking for new organizations to become beneficiaries our annual events. If you know an organization that may be interested in becoming a beneficiary, have them submit a beneficiary application. The application can be downloaded from our Beneficiary Page, where you can also learn about our Current Beneficiaries!
